Racing Ahead

Perhaps the lack of posts on this blog has been an indicator of where my priorities have been this year. Unfortunately I may have let myself become too engaged in preparing for a race (100 mile foot race) when I should be more concerned about a greater race (Hebrews 12.1-2). A few weeks ago the Lord blessed me with an injury to my hip joint (I seem to recall a particular biblical character who was also given an injury to the hip. lol). The pain can be bad some days and I am walking with a bit of a limp. I don't think it is anything permanent but it has served as a nice slap in the face to get me to remember some things and get me thinking. What do I want to be remembered for? What heritage will I leave for my kids? What really matters in eternity? What race do I really need to focus on and which one do I really want to win? It's time for me to get back on track here. Life is too short to get side-tracked. I am not saying that I will never try to run that 100 mile race, but it is not as important to me now as this greater race.
